How long will each lesson last?

I book sessions on a weekly basis. It’s your choice whether the lessons last for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 1.5 hours or 2 hours.

What will be taught?

I will do an assessment in the first session, then use this to find the gaps in their learning and plan for future lessons. If you would like me to focus on a particular area in English or Maths, I’d be more than happy to do that. Each session will include learning objectives from the National Curriculum.

Where will the lessons take place?

The majority of my lessons take place online via Zoom. Alternatively, if a child is being home educated, I am available to teach in person from my home on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 3pm. I am based in Acton (a five-minute walk from Acton Town Station).

When will the lessons take place?

I will do my best to be flexible and arrange a lesson at a convenient time on weekdays after school or weekend mornings.

Is online tuition an option?

Yes! Since the coronavirus pandemic, I have continued to teach my students online via Zoom and these lessons have proven to be very effective. I use a desk camera so that the children can see me writing on my mini whiteboard, along with screen sharing/editing via Zoom. Online tutorials certainly encourage the pupils to talk through their ideas/working out, which helps to improve their understanding, consolidate their learning and find their voice.

Online tuition is also convenient for parents as I send the Zoom meeting details in the morning and no travelling is involved. After the lesson, I send feedback via text message.

Do you offer tuition to home educated children?

Yes. If you are a parent/guardian looking for a qualified teacher to provide daily/weekly support for Maths and English, I can certainly help.

Will stationery be provided?

If the lesson is at my house, the pupil doesn’t need to bring any stationery. I will provide each pupil with a Maths and/or English exercise book, which they should bring to each lesson.

If signing up for online lessons, I can post a Maths and English book to the pupil and they would use their own stationery during the lesson.

Will homework be set?

I usually do set a small amount of homework so that the pupil can consolidate their learning.

Will feedback be given?

Yes, I will give regular feedback to the parent/guardian. At the end of each lesson, I will give verbal feedback to the adult who collects the pupil. If the lesson is via Zoom, I will give feedback via text message to the parent/guardian after the lesson.

What is the hourly rate?
